Chiranjeevi, Kiran Kumar Reddy and Botsa Satyanarayana at Prajarajyam - Congress merger meeting 'Uttarandhara Congress Garjana' at Visakhapatnam.In the backdrop of the ongoing Telangana agitation, the Congress is planning a mighty show of strength in the coastal city of Visakhapatnam tomorrow where the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) of actor Chiranjivi will formally merge with the party. Dubbed as the Uttarandhra Congress Garjana , the meeting is expected to see a gathering of over two lakh people, according to congress sources. Despite 48-hour Rail roko stir seen as intensification of the four-decade old struggle for a separate Telangana state, the party is going ahead with the meeting, to be attended by several senior leaders, including Chief Minsiter N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Pradesh Congress President Botcha Satyanarayana. The venue of the meeting on the beach had already become a controversial with some local NGOs including People s Forum for Better Visakha and Praja Spandana objecting to the use of heavy machinery to level the beach sands. Some leaders of the PRP had expressed their objection to the show, stating that it was being played up purely as a Congress affair, ignoring the PRP. The local Congress leaders are trying to pacify the angry PRP cadre, sources said.
